The São Paulo Metro G stock is a class of electric multiple units built between 2007 and 2009 by Alstom to operate on Line 2-Green. In 1991 the São Paulo Metropolitan Company published a bid for 67 trains of six cars each: 45 trains for the Vila Madalena to Vila Prudente line and 22 for Line 3, including six for the Itaquera to Guaianases expansion. In 2007 the company made a 15 percent additive on the second contract, and until then 11 trains of that contract had been delivered, named the E stock. The trains were built at Alstom's factory in the Lapa district of São Paulo and delivered in 2009, and the first train was delivered on 28 March 2009 at Alto do Ipiranga station. A failure in the wheel axles was later found, which could cause an improper longitudinal movement and a derailment, so all of the G stock was recalled for tests and repairs; it was found that IESA, Alstom's sub-supplier, had pressed the wheels onto the axles with a damaged hydraulic press. The legal manoeuvre used to buy the additional trains was pleaded guilty by the State Court of Accounts in November 2017.
