The Renault VG were diesel rail buses built in 1933 as single-ended cars in four examples by the French company Renault. They were used first by the Etat and from 1937 on the Mamers to Saint-Calais line, and the last car was withdrawn in 1956. The type was first built in two examples, one of which had its front end lowered after wind tunnel tests, and two more were made for the Etat in the same year. They were developed from the Renault type TE, with a body shaped in the wind tunnel, a rounded line, a rear almost like an aircraft and skirts hiding most of the running gear. The engine bore was enlarged from 115 to 125 mm, adding 20 PS, so that the car reached 100 km/h on the flat and 60 km/h on a 15 per mille gradient. It seated 34 passengers, had a mail compartment, and was the first to be mentioned with a magnetic track brake.
