Renault NF

The Renault NF were small two-axle petrol-mechanical single-ended railcars that were ordered in 1924 and delivered in 1925. They are a further development of the Renault type KA of 1922, with the wheelbase reduced to 3.6 metres so that they could still be turned on the existing turntables. The two metre-gauge cars had a passenger compartment for 24 people in face-to-face 2+2 seating, reached through a closed platform between the single driving cab and the compartment. A 45 PS petrol engine, laid out like that of a forward-control bus, drove the rear axle through a mechanical gearbox and cardan shafts, and the 7.3 tonne car reached 45 km/h. One went as number 1 to the Pontarlier to Mouthe tramway, which got a stronger Panhard engine and a new body in 1932; the other went as number 2 to the Yonne local-interest railways.
