MPL 75

Passenger Rolling Stock and High-Speed Trainsets

The MPL 75, Métro Pneus Lyon 1975, is a rubber-tyred electric multiple unit used on Line A of the Lyon Metro, and formerly on Line B. The entire fleet was built by Alstom, then Alsthom, and was delivered in two batches in 1978 and 1981. It is one of three Alstom-built train types of the Lyon Metro: the MPL 85 is the driverless rubber-tyred type of Line D, delivered in 1988 and in service from 1991, and the MCL 80, built with the Swiss Locomotive and Machine Works for Line C, is the only Lyon Metro model with steel wheels rather than rubber tyres.
