The China Railway NZJ1 Xin Shuguang, meaning New Dawn, is a higher-speed diesel multiple unit of China Railway, a push-pull double-deck trainset with two power cars and nine trailer cars. It was developed jointly by Qishuyan Works, now CRRC Qishuyan, which built the power cars, by Nanjing Puzhen Works, now CRRC Nanjing Puzhen, which built the double-deck trailers, and by the Shanghai railway administration, and it was completed in 1999. Each power car carries one 12V280ZJ diesel engine, a derivative of the DF11 locomotive engine, and the set reached 199.4 km/h in testing before being approved for 180 km/h. It began a 300,000 km operational assessment on 10 October 1999 on the Shanghai, Nanjing and Hangzhou lines, was moved to the Harbin group in 2007 and ceased operation in November 2010. The train was nicknamed the Silkworm for its front end and livery.
