Bombardier Talent 2

The Bombardier Talent 2 is a family of electric multiple unit trains from Bombardier Transportation, offered in two to six articulated cars, though no six-car train was ever ordered. The name is an acronym for Talbot light local multiple unit, but the Talent 2 is technically unrelated to the earlier Talent built by Talbot. A standard-gauge, steel-bodied train with Jakobs bogies between the cars, it was designed to cover everything from suburban S-Bahn work to regional lines, with length, entry height and seating chosen by each buyer. It was first shown to the public at InnoTrans in Berlin on 23 September 2008 and was completed at the Hennigsdorf works from bodyshells made in the Czech Republic. In Germany the Deutsche Bahn classes the sets as 442 and the middle cars as 443. Their rounded cab fronts earned the nickname Hamsterbacke, meaning hamster cheek. The maker stopped taking orders in 2017, after the Talent 3, which is based on it, appeared in 2016.
