The Bombardier Itino is a family of two and three-car diesel multiple units built by Bombardier Transportation and originally developed by Adtranz, capable of around 140 to 160 km/h. First introduced in 1998, 57 units were built at the former LEW Hennigsdorf factory between 2002 and 2010. In Germany they are DB Class 615 and run on the Odenwaldbahn and for Erfurter Bahn, 27 units in all; in Sweden they are classes Y31 for two cars and Y32 for three, and 30 units were delivered to Swedish regional operators, replacing the Y1 railcars. Each unit has two truck-derived MAN diesel engines with hydraulic transmission, while the units built from 2008 to 2010 have Iveco engines and ZF automatic gearboxes. The Swedish sets had a poor start, with brakes that could not cope with snow, and they are likely to be replaced by CAF Civity Nordic trains between 2024 and 2027.
