The Alstom X62 is a variant of the Alstom Coradia Nordic multiple unit train, built by Alstom at Salzgitter in Germany and related to the X60 and X61 types. A set has four permanently coupled car bodies and is 74.3 metres long, about three conventional coaches. Norrtåg AB, owned by the northern Swedish counties except Gävleborg, ordered eleven sets through Transitio in October 2008 for delivery in autumn 2010. They run on the Botnia Line, the Ådalen Line, the Mid Line, the Main Line through upper Norrland and the Ore Line, at a top speed of 180 km/h against 160 km/h for the X61, with more legroom and a catering section. Limited service began in autumn 2011, and in winter 2012 snow packed under the cars disrupted the brakes.
