Alstom RegioCitadis

Passenger Rolling Stock and High-Speed Trainsets

The Alstom RegioCitadis is a low-floor dual-system tram-train made by Alstom Transport Deutschland at Salzgitter, formerly Linke-Hofmann-Busch, for combined running on railway and tramway tracks. Each vehicle has a middle section on two trailing bogies and two end sections supported on motor bogies. Germany approved it under both the railway operating regulations and the tramway regulations, and in the Netherlands it runs as a tram. The first series of 28 went to Kassel for the RegioTram from 2005, 18 electric dual-system cars and 10 dual-power cars with diesel generators, the first dual-power trams built in double-digit numbers. A second series of 54 went to The Hague for RandstadRail, limited to 80 km/h and direct current, and 18 more were ordered in 2008.
