The Alstom Metropolis C830 is the first generation of electric multiple unit rolling stock with communications-based train control on the Circle Line of the Singapore Mass Rapid Transit, in operation since 2009. Alstom won the Land Transport Authority contract, Contract 830, on 28 December 2000, beating seven other pre-qualified bidders. Forty three-car trainsets were bought. Although similar to the stock of the underground North East Line, the three-car trains take power from a third rail instead of overhead wires. The front has an extra window cut into the emergency exit door, giving passengers a view of the tunnel, and the trains normally run fully driverless in the formation Mc1, T, Mc2.
