The Alstom Aventra, sold as the Bombardier Aventra until 2021, is a family of electric multiple unit passenger trains built at the Derby Litchurch Lane Works in the United Kingdom, first by Bombardier Transportation and then by Alstom. It was developed from 2009 as the successor to the Electrostar, with lighter and more energy efficient cars, wider doors and gangways, heavier use of digital control and predictive maintenance, and compliance with the 2017 interoperability standards. Operators can choose car lengths, propulsion and interiors. The first order came from the Crossrail programme in 2014, and the Elizabeth line, London Overground, Greater Anglia, South Western Railway, c2c and West Midlands Trains all run Aventras.
