The TGV POS, also called the POS-Duplex, is a tri-current TGV built by Alstom for SNCF and ordered for the LGV Est, which opened in 2007. POS stands for Paris, Eastern France and Southern Germany, the route the line serves. The project was an extension of the TGV Duplex order: Alstom delivered 38 tri-current power cars and 19 sets of double-deck Duplex carriages, and each set weighs 383 tonnes. The power cars give 9.6 MW under 25 kV and 6.8 MW under 15 kV, with a top speed of 320 km/h. On 3 April 2007 trainset 4402 reached 574.8 km/h in the Project V150 test, a world record for conventional rail. From 2013 the sets ran the Lyria service to Switzerland and since 2019 only domestic services, with rebuilding since 2023.
