The HXD1C is an electric locomotive developed by CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd, a member of the Chinese Harmony HXD1 family. The design was revealed in 2009 as a six-axle Co'Co' locomotive of 7.2 MW and 150 tonnes. It can haul a freight train of 5,000 to 5,500 tonnes on a gradient of not more than 12 per mille on the middle-eastern lines of China, and the source credits it with good cost performance and energy-saving and economic benefits. An Ethiopian variant has been built for the Addis Ababa to Djibouti Railway. HXD1C locomotives have been manufactured by several companies: the Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Company Limited, the Ziyang Locomotive Works and CRRC Qishuyan Locomotive Co., Ltd.
