The CFL Class 3000 is a class of twenty mixed use Tractis type electric locomotives with a top speed of 200 kilometres per hour, ordered by the Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois in 1995 as part of a joint order with SNCB for 80 units from Alstom. They share their mechanical and electrical design with the Belgian Class 13 and were ordered to replace electric and diesel locomotives dating from the 1950s and 1960s. The class was constructed between 1998 and 1999 and entered service from 1998 to 2001. On introduction it suffered a number of problems, including electromagnetic interference with track circuits and signalling systems and noise on power supplies. The locomotives share the work on Brussels to Luxembourg services, work the Liège to Luxembourg trains exclusively, and are also used on freight services between Luxembourg and France and Belgium.
