Bombardier TRAXX F140 MS2

Diesel and Electric Locomotives

The Bombardier TRAXX F140 MS2 is an electric multi-system locomotive from the Bombardier TRAXX family, able to run under all four overhead line voltages used in Europe. It is known in Germany as Baureihe 186, in Belgium as class 28 and, in the NS Hispeed fleet in the Netherlands, as NS Hispeed 186. The British leasing company Angel Trains, now Alpha Trains, was the first customer and ordered 35 locomotives, later raising the total to 105, of which 40 were leased to the Belgian railway NMBS for freight work. The first batch splits into three sub-series by country approvals: E186 101 to 110 for Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and the Netherlands, E186 111 to 125 for Germany, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands, and E186 126 to 135 for Germany, Austria and Poland. Twelve units serve NS Hispeed on the HSL-Zuid, and further orders came from CB Rail, Euro Cargo Rail, BLS and Veolia Transport.
