The Indian locomotive class WDM-6 is a diesel-electric locomotive class that Banaras Locomotive Works at Varanasi developed in 1981 for Indian Railways. The name stands for broad gauge, diesel and mixed traffic engine, sixth generation. Only two were built, in 1981 and 1982. The design was meant to haul commuter and suburban services and paired the 1,350 horsepower engine and hood superstructure of the metre-gauge YDM-4 with the underframe of the WDM-2. Both locomotives were judged underpowered and were relegated to shunting and departmental duties, based at the diesel shed at Burdwan since the 1980s, and one was seen shunting at the Liluah Workshop. By the late 2010s both had been withdrawn from service, and the article records them as earmarked for preservation.
