The Iranian Railways AD43C is a type of mainline six axle Co'Co' diesel locomotive designed by Alstom and used by the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways. Alstom designated it with the product code Prima DE 43 C AC. In 1998 GEC Alstom won an order valued at 125 million dollars for the supply of 100 mixed use locomotives, of which the first 20 were to be built at Alstom's factory in Belfort, France, and the rest at Wagon Pars in Iran. It was in production from 2000 and deliveries started in 2002. The locomotives have an RK 215 engine with a power at rail of 2,880 kilowatts, later de-rated to 2,400 kilowatts after premature failures, and three variants were produced: a passenger version with a top speed of 150 kilometres per hour and two freight versions with 110. As of early 2016 only a third were in revenue service and Iranian railways had decided to retrofit them with other engines.
