CP Class 9020

Diesel and Electric Locomotives

The Série 9020 was a class of metre gauge diesel locomotives built by Alsthom for the Portuguese Railways CP, which entered service in 1975. They worked metre gauge lines such as the Corgo line and the Tua line. By the early years of the twenty first century those lines had almost all been closed, which led to the withdrawal of the locomotives, and some of them were afterwards sold to Madarail in Madagascar. The page places the class among the narrow gauge railways of Portugal.
