The Alstom Prima diesel-electric locomotives are a class of medium and heavy, four and six axle, passenger and freight mainline locomotives built to both 1,435 mm standard gauge and 1,668 mm broad gauge. Alstom is the primary designer, working with General Motors, now EMD, and with Siemens. The machines built at the Valencia plant in Spain used General Motors engines and drive systems, while those built in France for export used Ruston engines and the SNCF Fret units used MTU engines. Export versions include the DE32C for Syria, the M9 class for Sri Lanka and the AD43C for Iran. Alstom and Siemens also produced the BB 75000 for SNCF, and the Valencia plant passed to Vossloh in 2004.
