The EMD GP35 is a four-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division from July 1963 to December 1965, and by General Motors Diesel from May 1964 to January 1966. A turbocharged 16-cylinder EMD 567D3A engine generated 2,500 horsepower. Builders delivered 1,251 for American railroads, 26 for Canadian railroads and 57 for Mexican railroads. Many railroads traded in Alco FA units and EMD F-units for GP35s and reused the old trucks and traction motors, so some units ride on Alco trucks. Several survive in preservation or on tourist lines, including Western Pacific 3002 at Ogden Union Station.
