The ALCO RSD-7 was a diesel-electric road switcher built by ALCO at Schenectady, New York, between January 1954 and April 1956. Two versions carried the same designation: specification DL-600, of which only two were built, developed 2,250 horsepower with the 244G engine, and the revised DL-600A, 27 locomotives, was rated at 2,400 horsepower with the 244H. It rode on two three-axle trucks in a C-C arrangement with GE 752 traction motors, and was the last ALCO diesel built with a 244 engine before the RSD-15 superseded it. The two demonstrators toured 23 railroads in 1954 to challenge the Fairbanks-Morse Train Master and were then sold to the Santa Fe. None survived into preservation.
