AIDAperla

Passenger and Ocean Liner Vessels

AIDAperla is a cruise ship of AIDA Cruises, built by Mitsubishi Shipbuilding at its shipyard in Nagasaki, Japan. She was delivered in May 2017 and formally named in June 2017 by her godmother, the German fashion model and television host Lena Gercke. She is 300 metres long with a moulded beam of 37 metres and a maximum draft of 8.25 metres, a gross tonnage of 125,572 and 16 passenger decks out of 18, and has 1,643 cabins and room for 3,286 passengers in double occupancy. Three Caterpillar 12VM43C diesel units of 9,450 kilowatts each, one dual-fuel Caterpillar 12VM46DF and a Caterpillar 3516B generator give her a service speed of 22.5 knots. On 22 October 2023, while she was sailing from Hamburg to La Coruña, a crew member was reported missing off Ramsgate and the ship returned to the area to help a nine-hour search that failed to find them.
