The Dornier Delphin, meaning Dolphin, was a single-engine commercial flying boat built by Dornier Flugzeugwerke in Germany in the 1920s. The Delphin I of 1920 was an all-metal high-wing monoplane with an enclosed four-passenger cabin and an engine in a nacelle above the wing. The Delphin II seated five passengers and the Delphin III, developed from 1927, carried ten passengers behind a separate flight deck. The United States Navy and the Royal Navy each bought one example to evaluate the metal construction, and the design fed directly into the later Dornier Komet and Merkur landplanes.
