The Zeppelin-Lindau Cs I, also called the Dornier Cs I, was a German naval reconnaissance seaplane of the First World War. On 1 December 1917 the Zeppelin works at Lindau received an order from the Imperial Naval Office for a two-seat float seaplane of the C class with two fixed and one flexible machine gun, built of duralumin around a 195 horsepower Benz Bz IIIb engine, to be compared with the wood and fabric Hansa-Brandenburg W.29; Junkers received the same order. Chief designer Claude Dornier drew a low-wing monoplane with a self-supporting stressed-skin metal fuselage and a low fin that gave the observer a clear field of fire to the rear. Three aircraft were built. The first flew on Lake Constance on 11 May 1918, but delivery ran months late, the tests found an unreliable direct-drive engine and poor longitudinal stability, and the war ended before the improved third aircraft could be delivered.
