Dornier Do 318

Flying Boats and Seaplanes

The Dornier Do 318 was a projected military flying boat of the Dornier works. It was designed in 1943 as an enlarged development of the Dornier Do 24 and followed that boat closely in its layout, but it was to receive stronger Bramo 323 radial engines of 1,200 horsepower each. The wing section was a NACA 230 profile. The project was not pursued any further and no prototype was ever built, so the Do 318 is known only as a design study on the line from the successful Do 24 patrol and rescue flying boat.
