The Dornier Do 26 was an all-metal gull-winged flying boat produced before and during the Second World War by Dornier Flugzeugwerke of Germany. In civilian service it was meant to carry a payload of 500 kilograms or four passengers on the Lisbon to New York route, and in military service it carried as many as eighteen passengers. Its four Junkers Jumo 205C diesel engines were mounted in tractor and pusher pairs in tandem nacelles, and it used retractable stabilising wing floats instead of Dornier's usual sponsons. The first aircraft flew on 21 May 1938 and the second on 23 November 1938; three served with Deutsche Lufthansa until impressed into military service in 1939, and three more were built for the Luftwaffe with more powerful Jumo 205D engines.
