The Piaggio Ape is a three-wheeled light commercial vehicle that Piaggio introduced in Italy in 1948, built using the front end and engine of the company's Vespa scooter mated to a small cargo bed or box at the rear. Cheap to buy and operate, it became a common sight for small scale goods delivery and market trading across Italy and, through export and local licensed production, in many other countries, and it remains in production in updated form today.
