Kawasaki ZRX1200R

Motorcycles and Powered Two- and Three-Wheelers

The Kawasaki ZRX1200R is a standard or naked motorcycle that Kawasaki manufactured in Japan from 2001 until 2017. It evolved from the ZRX1100, itself a stylised version of the Eddie Lawson Replica KZ1000R sold in 1982, and Kawasaki's goal was modern performance in a body that kept the look of that original. It was sold in the United States until 2005 and in Europe until 2007, and was updated in 2008 with a six-speed gearbox and fuel injection. In Japan it continued alone as the ZRX1200 DAEG until a Final Edition in 2017. Worldwide it came in three styles: the half-faired ZRX1200S, the bikini-faired ZRX1200R and the unfaired ZRX1200C. Its liquid-cooled 1164 cc inline-four breathes through four 36 mm Keihin carburettors and exhausts through a four-into-one stainless system. The tubular aluminium bars, steel tube frame and piggyback-reservoir shocks recall the classic Universal Japanese Motorcycle.
