The Kawasaki ZRX1100 was a standard motorcycle that Kawasaki made from 1997 to 2000, fitted with an engine loosely based on the one in the ZX-11. It replaced the Zephyr 1100, which sold poorly in the United States, so the ZRX1100 was not sold there at first and reached that market only in 1999. In 2001 the larger-engined ZRX1200 took its place, sold in the US until 2005 and in Japan for far longer. The bike was styled after the large 1980s muscle bikes and is counted among the Universal Japanese Motorcycles, a niche that the Suzuki Bandit 1200 is credited with leading. One colour scheme recalls the Kawasaki KZ1000s that took Eddie Lawson to the 1981 and 1982 AMA Superbike titles, and the R version added a bikini nose fairing with a square headlight. A road test figure quoted for it is a top speed of 230 km/h and a quarter mile in 11.19 seconds.
