The Kawasaki Z400 is a 399 cc standard motorcycle in Kawasaki's Z series, introduced as the successor to the Z300 and unveiled at the 2018 EICMA show in Milan, Italy. It is powered by a liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine derived from the one in the Ninja 400 sport bike. In 2022 the engine was updated to comply with Euro 5 emissions rules. At launch the bike was priced at 205,700 baht, about 6,432 US dollars, in Thailand and at 6,445 euros in Germany. In November 2022 Kawasaki announced that it would produce a naked Z sport bike with an electric drivetrain, and regulatory documents filed with the Australian government in 2023 show that it will be sold as the Z e-1, using the same basic chassis as the Z400.
