Honda CBX 650

The Honda CBX 650 E, factory code RC 13, is a motorcycle that Honda designed first of all for the American market, where it was sold as the CB 650 SC Nighthawk with a differently shaped tank, an exhaust with angled silencers and other handlebar switches. It arrived in 1983 as the shaft-driven middle CBX between 550 and 750 cubic centimetres and a rival to the Yamaha XJ 650 and the Kawasaki Z 550 GT. The engine is an air and oil cooled inline four-cylinder four-stroke of 655 cubic centimetres with two overhead camshafts and sixteen valves with hydraulic valve clearance adjustment. The clutch is hydraulic and the instruments include a fuel gauge and a gear indicator, both with LCD displays. Output is 37 kilowatts at 8,000 per minute, and a 55 kilowatt version was also built. The five-speed gearbox has an overdrive top gear, the front wheel is 19 inch and the rear 16 inch, and the tank holds 16.5 litres. Published top speed is 175 kilometres per hour, or 200 for the 55 kilowatt version, and the permissible gross mass is 397 kilograms.
