The Honda CB700SC Nighthawk 700S is a carbureted, air-cooled, in-line four-cylinder motorcycle that Honda marketed solely in the United States for the 1984 to 1986 model years, with a standard or neutral upright riding position. As a downsized variant of the CB750SC Nighthawk S, itself an export version of the CBX750, it was meant to get around the tariff laws of 1983 to 1987. It had a six-speed transmission, hydraulic valve lifters, shaft drive, a front bikini fairing, a gear indicator and 16-inch alloy wheels at an introductory price of 3,398 dollars. The double overhead cam engine had an automatic cam chain adjuster, electronic ignition and a four-into-two exhaust finished in black chrome, with Honda's second-generation TRAC anti-dive system, double front discs and a rear drum.
