The Honda CB650 is a 627 cc standard motorcycle produced from 1979 to 1985, with a four-cylinder, SOHC, air-cooled, wet-sump engine and two valves per cylinder. It developed the CB550, itself derived from the earlier CB500, and it was the last of Honda's successful series of air-cooled SOHC fours that began in 1969 with the CB750. To save costs it was built on the CB550's production line with the existing tooling, and its cylinder block was new but shared the stud holes of the earlier bike, which may explain why it could not be a full 650. The frame was almost identical to the CB550's, and it claimed 63 hp at 9,000 rpm. The 1980 model was restyled, and after 1981 it had a modified head, CV carburettors and a custom version with cruiser styling.
