BMW S1000R

Motorcycles and Powered Two- and Three-Wheelers

The BMW S1000R is a naked motorcycle that BMW Motorrad has manufactured since 2014, based on the S1000RR superbike with which it shares its engine, gearbox, frame and suspension. The detuned inline-four engine from the S1000RR is optimised for low to mid range performance and delivers a maximum output of 118 kW (158 hp) at 11,000 rpm and 112 Nm of torque at 9,250 rpm. The 2017 update raised the maximum to 123 kW (165 hp), made the bike 3 kg lighter and added upgraded ABS, traction control and a new exhaust, with the lighter frame and electronics taken from the S1000RR. Like the S1000RR it has the Gearshift Assist Pro quickshifter as standard, and BMW added launch control to its Dynamic Traction Control. The Gen 3 model of 2021 has a completely revised design, weighs from 194 to 199 kg and revs to 12,750 rpm.
