The BMW R 25/3 was a single-cylinder motorcycle from the German maker BMW, built from 1953 as the successor to the R 25/2. Its engine made 13 horsepower, a little more than the 12 of its predecessor, and it had a long-stroke hydraulically damped telescopic fork and was the first BMW series motorcycle with full-hub brakes. The straight-line rear suspension of the earlier models was kept, unlike the swinging arms of the models that came from 1955. The welded tubular double frame carried four ball heads on the right for a sidecar, the engine and gearbox cases were cast aluminium mounted on through axles with rubber bushes, and the tank was larger than before. The R 26 replaced it in January 1956 with 15 horsepower and a full swinging-arm frame.
