The BMW F900R is a naked motorcycle that BMW Motorrad introduced in 2019, based on the F850GS project with which it shares technical solutions and mechanical parts, also adopted by the sport touring F900XR; the F-series 850/900 engine family also includes the enduro-inspired F850GS and F900GS. It was presented in November 2019 at EICMA in Milan with an 895 cc straight-twin engine with cylinders set across the frame, delivering 105 bhp (78 kW) through a six-speed gearbox. Compared with the 850 GS engine it grew from 853 to 895 cc with a larger bore and stroke, new forged pistons, a double balancer shaft and a 270 degree crankshaft. The 13 litre tank is mounted under the saddle above the engine to centralise mass, and standard equipment includes a colour TFT display with connectivity, an LED headlight, ASC, three riding modes and a quickshifter. The F900R Cup, a one-make UK race series, began in 2023 with 72 riders.
