Suzuki RGV250

Motorcycles and Powered Two- and Three-Wheelers

The Suzuki RGV250 was a high performance sport bike that took many of its features and design cues from Grand Prix technology. It was a race replica of the Suzuki 250 cc GP bikes of 1987 to 1998, the RGV V twin racer, and it replaced the RG250 Gamma with an alloy beam frame and a two stroke engine. It made over 60 bhp in a narrow power band between 8,000 and 11,000 rpm, so it was weak below 7,000 rpm and strong above 8,000. Dry weight ran from 128 kg in 1989 to 140 kg in later models and top speed was around 209 km/h. The VJ21 of 1988 to 1991 and the VJ22 of 1991 to 1996 used a 90 degree V twin, with the VJ22 adding the Suzuki Advanced Power Control valves, and the VJ23 of 1997 to 1998 had a new 70 degree V twin. Its light weight and cornering made it well suited to the track.
