Kawasaki Ninja 650

Motorcycles and Powered Two- and Three-Wheelers

The Kawasaki Ninja 650, also sold as the Ninja 650R and, in Europe, the ER-6f, is a middleweight parallel-twin motorcycle in Kawasaki's Ninja series, on sale since 2006. It was introduced alongside the naked ER-6n, which reached North America only for the 2009 model year, and sits above the Ninja 250R and Ninja 500R in the range. Its 649 cc twin has a 180 degree crankshaft, giving an uneven firing interval, and the bike is built for ordinary paved-road use with low seating and a low centre of gravity. Kawasaki updated it in 2009, again in 2012, when the R suffix was dropped and an economical riding indicator was added, and in 2017 with a lighter trellis frame, a conventional rear shock and a slipper clutch. The faired version proved most popular in Australia and India, while in much of Europe the naked ER-6n sold better. The Versys uses many of the same components, and the ER-6n ended in 2018 when the Z650 replaced it.
