The Honda VFR1200F is the seventh generation of Honda's sport touring motorcycles in the VF and VFR line, powered by a transverse-mounted V4 engine, and the first motorcycle offered with a dual clutch transmission. A first V4 concept was shown at the 2008 Intermot show in Cologne and the production bike was unveiled at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show, eight years after the previous VFR800. Production began in October 2009 with deliveries in early 2010, and the engine and gearbox were completely new, with displacement raised from 800 to 1,200 cc. It was designed mainly in Honda's Italian and German studios under Spanish designer Teofilo Plaza and was discontinued in 2017 because it no longer met new emission and noise rules.
