The Honda RC212V is a Japanese motorcycle created for road racing in the 800 cc MotoGP series. Officially introduced on 30 October 2006 as the replacement for the RC211V, it was developed by Honda Racing Corporation through 2006 and began racing in the 2007 season. The name reads RC for the traditional four-stroke racing prefix, 212 for the second works bike of the twenty-first century and V for V engine. It has an 800 cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, DOHC four-valve V4 powering an all-new chassis designed around mass centralisation and handling. In 2007 Dani Pedrosa and Nicky Hayden rode the factory bikes and customers rode others, but results fell short of expectations and HRC chief Satoru Horiike admitted a mistake in the machine's development.
