The Honda RC170 is a 283 cc air-cooled DOHC inline-four racing motorcycle that Honda manufactured in 1962 to compete in the 350 cc World Championship. It is an overbored version of the 250 cc RC163, with the bore increased by 3 mm from 44 to 47 mm, built to challenge the dominant 350 MVs, and it won one of the two championship races it was entered in before being replaced by the 339.4 cc RC171. Having won both the 125 and 250 cc championships in 1961, Honda expanded in 1962 into the 350 and the new 50 cc classes. Bob McIntyre first used the bike in British national races, but at Mallory Park he hit a fallen Matchless and damaged it, and a misfire and then a puncture cost him places at Oulton Park.
