The Honda NSR500 is a road racing motorcycle created by Honda Racing Corporation that debuted in 1984 for the 500 cc class of Grand Prix motorcycle racing. Honda won ten 500 cc World Championships with it between 1984 and 2002, six in a row from 1994 to 1999, and with more than 100 wins it was the most dominant force in modern Grand Prix racing. Designed to succeed Honda's first two-stroke Grand Prix racer, the NS500 triple, the new 90-degree V4 used a single crankshaft, making it lighter and more compact than rivals with two, and it clinched Honda's second 500 title in 1985. Opening the V-angle to 112 degrees in 1987 made room for four 36 mm carburettors between the cylinders, and Wayne Gardner won the third title that year; the bike was entirely redesigned for 1988.
