The Honda NS125 was first presented at the Bologna Motor Show in December 1984 and went on sale in April 1985. Its engine is a liquid-cooled 124.5 cc two-stroke that used Honda's ATAC system, the Automatically Controlled Torque Amplification Chamber, though ATAC models were not sold in the UK. The NS was Honda's first attempt at the high-end 125 cc sports bike market in Italy, so it was built in Atessa, Italy, with many parts from well-known Italian brands, including a Dell'Orto carburettor, Marzocchi forks and single rear shock, and Grimeca wheels and front disc. Honda Japan supplied the specification sheets and a few parts such as the electrics, piston and barrel. It was sold as the F, a naked version, or the R, fully faired, and is often mistaken for an older NSR though it shares no real parts or design with it.
