The Honda CBX550F is a four-stroke, inline-four sport tourer produced from 1982 to 1986, with the CBX550F II adding a half-fairing. Though sold as a 550, its engine displaced 572.5 cc and was a new design with twin overhead camshafts acting on rockers and sixteen valves. It had an oil cooler, a distinctive exhaust with crossover pipes in front of the engine, inboard ventilated disc brakes housed in a drum-type enclosure, an anti-dive fork and Honda's Pro-Link rear suspension, with transistorised ignition and 12 volt electrics. It was aimed at the middleweight sector, where Honda wanted a powerful new engine.
