The Honda CBR 450 SR was a Brazilian sport motorcycle built by Honda between 1989 and 1994. It is regarded as the first fully Brazilian Honda, because it was developed entirely by the technicians of the Manaus factory and was sold only in Brazil. It grew out of a 1987 survey of dealers and the public about what should be improved on the CB 400 and went on sale in September 1989 as the first Brazilian sport motorcycle with a four-stroke engine. It was fully faired, with a very modern design for its time, stylistically inspired by the Japanese CBR 250RR MC17 of 1987 and reusing many of its fairing parts. Over its life the mechanics, chassis and styling did not change, only the graphics in 1991 and 1993, and production ended in December 1994 as cheaper imports increased competition.
