BMW F800S

Motorcycles and Powered Two- and Three-Wheelers

The BMW F800S was a sport bike made by BMW Motorrad from 2006 to 2010, closely related to the sport touring F800ST, with the dual-sport F800GS and the naked F800R completing the F-bike range. BMW developed with Rotax a 798 cc parallel-twin engine with a 360 degree firing order, which gave an exhaust note reminiscent of the signature air-cooled boxer twins; because both pistons move up and down together, BMW added a third vestigial connecting rod to a balance weight, giving much lower vibration than other parallel twins. The engine was dry sump oiled, with a soft ignition-cut rev limiter at 9,000 rpm and an early, powerful onset of torque, and the bikes used low-maintenance belt drive and a single-sided swingarm. Chris Pfeiffer used a modified F800S for stunting before moving to the F800R. The F800S was discontinued in some markets, including the United States, after the 2007 model year and across most of the world after summer 2010.
