The Honda SH50 is a 49 cc air-cooled, two-stroke, single-cylinder, scooter-style restricted moped that Honda made between 1984 and 2006, with substantial revisions for the 1996 model year. It had continuously variable automatic transmission, called V-Matic, with both electric and kick start, automatic choke and capacitor discharge ignition, and drum brakes front and rear, with a front disc on later models. The early models resembled the Super Cub range in shape, with a dual seat and rear carrier, but had a scooter-type floor, unlike the cycle-built P-series mopeds such as the PC50. It was also known as the City Express and, in some markets, the Scoopy. The battery, fuel tank and two-stroke oil reservoir sat under the seat, and the first SH50-E was imported into the UK from March 1984, made at Honda Benelux's plant at Aalst in Belgium.
