The Honda Julio was a 49 cc scooter (model code BB-AF52, model code NTS50) that Honda Motor Co. built and sold in Japan. Following the Giorno Joker it was another retro-styled scooter, which Honda called a New Trend Scooter, and the name means July in Spanish. It went on sale in July 1998 and, after several limited editions, production ended in 2002 as part of Honda's policy of moving its two-wheelers to four-stroke engines. Its design borrows from 1960s scooters, with the headlight set in a leg shield made as one piece with the front fender and large covers on the rear sides. It has an underbone frame, a storage space for a full-face helmet and a centre stand lock for theft protection. The AF24E forced-air-cooled two-stroke single-cylinder engine, carried over from the fifth-generation Tact, was fitted with a three-way catalyst in the muffler to meet the 1998 emission rules, and drives through a V-matic continuously variable transmission.
