The Honda Giorno is a small step-through scooter built and sold by Honda in Japan, first announced in March 1992 after a showing at the 1991 Tokyo Motor Show. The first generation carried a 49 cc air-cooled two-stroke single-cylinder engine and was designed as a retro-styled scooter with rounded bodywork in the Italian manner, a helmet-sized storage space under the seat and a convenience hook at the front. The name comes from the Italian greeting Buon Giorno. Its look proved popular with women and helped establish a retro scooter genre that rivals from Yamaha and Suzuki soon followed. Later generations moved to four-stroke engines, including a 2011 model built in China and a 2015 model built in Kumamoto, and Honda has also used the name for a 125 cc Giorno+ sold in Thailand and other Asian markets.
