Honda DJ-1

Motorcycles and Powered Two- and Three-Wheelers

The Honda DJ-1 was a series trademark for scooters that Honda Motor Co. built and sold in the mid-1980s. It was an underbone-frame scooter with a 49 cc air-cooled two-stroke single-cylinder engine and a V-belt continuously variable transmission through a dry multi-plate shoe clutch. It was aimed at young riders, who made up most of the users, with a sporty orientation, and shared many components with the Tact series. The original DJ-1 (model code A-AF12) was announced on 27 March 1985 and went on sale on 1 April 1985 with the AF05E engine, which produced 5.2 ps at 6,500 rpm. Variants were added over time, and production ended with the DJ-1RR in 1988. Its practical successors were the Dio, released at the same time as the DJ-1RR, and the G' of 1989. A television advertisement with the catchphrase about DJ became well known.
